BEYOND THE MONOLITH
Why we speak of
tendencies, not rules.
India cannot be condensed into a single psychological verdict. With 1.48 billion people speaking hundreds of languages across vast geography, every generalization risks turning into a caricature.
Yet human behavior does not exist in a vacuum. Centuries of intergenerational kinship, the realities of an informal economy without universal social security, and dense social fabrics produce durable, recognizable ways of solving life’s problems. We call these tendencies: patterns that people draw upon, adapt, or push back against depending on their life context.
